This is one of my most commonly asked questions, so I thought I’d give you all an answer!
As you are aware, I’m a Student Nutritionist. This means once I’m qualified I can assist you to improve your health and well-being through food and nutritional advice. Nutritionists typically work with ‘healthy populations’ as any expert advice regarding the prescription of dietary treatments is required to come from a Dietitian.
I can help and guide you, but I cannot prescribe to you any dietary treatments for conditions such as diabetes, food allergies, cancers, gastro-intestinal diseases, obesity etc. If you have any of these conditions, I can still work with you and provide suggestions and recommendations but this will not be prescribed medical advice or prescribed nutritional therapy.
Please don’t be taken aback by this. There are still many ways in which I am more than happy to help and guide you and I will always refer you on if it is outside my scope of practice. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to have a chat with me and we can always work something out.
